Barbecued Herb Bread

Easy to make, these funky bread sticks makes a nice change to accompany a BBQ and is sure to be a winner with the kids.

Ingredients

Method

Sieve the flour into a bowl and make a well in the centre. Sprinkle the yeast into the well, mix with the milk, cover and leave to stand for 30 minutes.

Add the salt and herbs and knead to a dough. Cover and put to rise in a warm place for 60 minutes.

Divide the dough into 12 pieces and form each into a 'sausage' about 30 cm long. Wrap these in a spiral around long sticks and bake by holding over the glowing charcoal, or barbecue for a few minutes each side.

    Very good overall and would make again. I baked in an oven at 170°C for 25 minutes instead of barbecuing. You could brush with garlic butter or add crushed garlic with the herbs. It was quite solid the next day, but warmed up in the oven and it was perfect.
