Kumara Gratin

A change from potatoes this kumara gratin is the perfect accompaniment to any roast.  Alternatively top with toasted nuts and a green salad for an easy vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Peel the kumara and slice as thinly as possible.

Brush a baking dish with the oil.

Toss the kumara with the Gregg's Garlic & Herb Sea Salt and Gregg's Ground Chilli, if using, in a large bowl.

Tip into the baking dish and spread the kumara to lie roughly flat.

Pour over the milk and cream and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the kumara is soft and browned on top. Top with grated cheese, if using, and cook for a further 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted

    I love this, however I find making it with cream makes for a really watery sauce. I made it with philadelphia cream for cooking, when mixed with the milk it makes a sauce thin enough to cook the kumara in, but nice, thick and creamy when cooked.
