Cheese Scones

An old favourite, these scones are great in lunch-boxes, or take to an impromptu picnic.

How to Cook

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper or lightly dust with flour.
  2. Sift together the flour, Gregg's Ground Paprika, Gregg's Ground Cayenne Pepper and salt. Stir in ¾ cup of the cheese. Using your fingertips, rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  3. Mix in enough milk to make a soft but not sticky dough. Pat out the dough on a lightly floured board and cut into portions. Place on baking tray and brush tops with milk then sprinkle with the remaining cheese and more paprika if desired.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked.


  • 3 cups self raising flour
  • 1 tsp Gregg's Ground Paprika
  • pinch Gregg's Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • pinch salt
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 75 g butter
  • 300 ml milk, approximately
