Whole Poppy Seeds

Poppy seeds are produced in various countries, including the Netherlands, Australia, Romania and Turkey. They are numerous, very small, kidney-shaped and can be either slate, blue or white in colour. Blue and slate poppy seeds are thought of as "European" poppy seeds because they are used on Western style foods, such as rolls, buns and bagels.Poppy seeds are deliciously nutty in flavour and give off a lovely toasty aroma when roasted or warmed. The seeds are commonly used in breads, pastries and cakes, however are also used in savoury Indian and Japanese dishes.
